When planning and decorating your baby's nursery, don't overlook nursery bedding. With so many choices, this can be a little overwhelming. Read on for some helpful tips.

Bedding Safety

Finally, you shouldn't just consider colors and textures when thinking about what to use for your baby's nursery bedding. Sheets should fit the mattress snugly, also. However, don't use any blankets, loose sheets, pillows, or animals in your baby's crib to reduce the incidence of SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). If you have a darling blanket that really needs to be seen, use it as a wall hanging or drape it across a rocking chair. Use the following bedding checklist when stocking the nursery:

  • Mattress protector pad
  • Mattress cover
  • Fitted sheets

Choosing nursery bedding doesn't have to be a big challenge. In fact, it can be lots of fun!

Boy or Girl?

Some parents just have to find out the gender of their unborn child. Maybe they want to plan everything out completely, or maybe curiosity just gets the best of them. If you are planning on finding out your baby's gender, this may help you narrow down your choices for baby nursery bedding. In fact, many parents actually design the rest of the nursery based on the bedding or crib sets they've chosen for the baby bed.

If you don't want to find out your baby's gender, however, there is still plenty of nursery bedding choices to choose from. All you have to do is decide which pattern, color, and theme that you like best. This might prove to be easier said than done, though, once you begin looking.

Nursery Sets for Boys or Girls

Of course, even if you don't find out the gender of your child because you simply love surprises, you can still find plenty of workable nursery bedding that would fit a boy or a girl. You no longer have to stick to the traditional green or yellow colors simply because you don't know the gender of your child.

Who says girls can't love a baby blue room? Once she's born, incorporate some lace in white, pink, or yellow to make it more feminine. Red has become increasingly popular in babies' rooms, and you can accent that red with other colors and accessories once the baby is here. Add a touch of navy or denim blue for a little boy, or mix in some pretty pink and white with the red for a little girl. Bright green also works well with red.
