Baby Nursery Decorations
From LoveToKnow Baby
Try not to be overwhelmed by thoughts of baby nursery decorations. You just found out you're expecting a baby, and all of a sudden life has become a whirlwind of activity! There are names to choose, furniture and baby supplies to purchase, paint colors to pick out, clothes to buy...well, you get the picture! You have less than nine months to get everything done, and sometimes you wonder if you can really pull it off! Some expectant parents look at decorating a nursery as a daunting and intimidating task. After all, when you begin receiving all of those baby magazines, the experts make baby nurseries look exquisite. How can you do something like that? Well actually, selecting baby nursery decorations really doesn't have to be that difficult.
Gather Your Ideas Together
Before you begin purchasing paint, wallpaper, pictures, and anything else that you want to decorate your baby's nursery, you need to narrow down your theme choices. This may be easier said than done, especially if you start looking through decorator catalogues and magazines.
If you want to decorate your nursery strictly for a boy or girl, your choices may be a little easier to choose from. Many parents like to search for a crib set first, and then take their paint colors and other decorating ideas from the colors and patterns that are on the material of the crib set. This is a good way to start out.
If you have several favorite ideas that you like, you might want to create a decorating folder. Cut out or print the pictures of several inspiration nurseries. Decide which you like best, and cull the rest. Then, take those pictures with you as you shop for your baby's crib set. Once you've decided on a pattern and color, you're halfway there!
Baby Nursery Decorations for the Wall
Did you know that converting an empty room into a lovely nursery only takes a gallon or two of paint? Paint can quickly transform any room, and baby nurseries are no exception. Be sure you choose paint that is washable. Your newborn won't be tiny and helpless for long, and you'll be glad you painted her walls in washable paint!
If you like wallpaper, there are lots of patterns to choose from. You can wallpaper only half a wall, using a chair rail to divide the painted half from the wallpapered half. You can add a cute border around the center of the room or next to the ceiling, at the top of the wall.
You can even apply adorable stick-on decorations. These are easy to apply and remove and come in lots of fun patterns, designs, and even favorite storybook characters. You might want to consider using these stick-on decorations on the walls over your baby's crib. You'll have cute decorations, and you won't have to worry about baby pulling anything off the walls and onto his head as he learns to stand in his crib.
Other Accessories
Of course, you've only just begun decorating your baby's nursery. You can add lamps, pictures, posters, and shelving. You can hang decorative baby quilts and blankets on the walls or drape them across a chair. Group stuffed animals in a corner of a room, and use old nursery rhyme books as a base for lamps and piggy banks. As your baby grows, save a few of her sweet, infant outfits and hang them from a hook on the wall or drape them over the door of an antique armoire.
The possibilities are endless. You don't have to spend a lot of money to find wonderful baby nursery decorations. In fact, you can use a lot of your baby's toys and clothing to create a unique and special nursery. As your baby grows, you can change a few items to reflect his interests. Most of all, you can create a special room that is just perfect for your precious child.
