Baby Photos
From LoveToKnow Baby
You know you should take lots of baby photos, but sometimes it is hard to step back and get the camera to capture those special moments. As challenging as it might be, take the time to get lots of photos of your baby since you will certainly cherish the memories that pictures help you to resurrect.
Take Your Own Baby Photo
Since you are with your baby night and day, make sure to have a camera handy for those incredibly cute expressions. While you can certainly pose your baby for special occasions, you will probably take mostly candid snapshots. The advantage of taking a baby photo at home is that you can do it when your baby is at his or her most charming; there is no need to schedule ahead.
Of course, make sure you take pictures on special occasions. You will want to be able to show your baby the photos from baby's first birthday, baby's first Christmas and baby's first solid food.
Professional Baby Photos
Sometimes it is fun to go to a photography studio for professional baby photos. The studio environment has some advantages because they generally have a selection of props and backgrounds for you to choose for the baby photo. More importantly, they have a high quality camera that will allow them to capture a really stunning image of your infant.
The trickiest part of going to a professional for your baby's photo can be timing. Try to schedule your appointment for baby's best time of day, and avoid scheduling when baby is used to sleeping or eating. If you are planning to put baby in special clothing for the photo, take it with you and get baby dressed right before the photo sitting. This will help you avoid mishaps with baby's special outfit.
Of course, your baby may or may not decide to cooperate with the photographer. If you simply do not think you can get a good photo of your baby on that day, you may need to reschedule the appointment or find a different photographer with whom your little one has better rapport.
Baby Photos with Characters
Of course, everyone wants to get the classic photos of baby with Santa or other favorite characters. However, remember that these characters can be quite scary to baby, especially when stranger anxiety sets in; if your baby is upset, it is better to just give up and send Grandma a photo of baby in her holiday dress with her favorite toy instead.
Baby Photo Album
So, what do you do with all of those photos of baby? The best way to archive all of your wonderful baby photos is to create baby photo albums. A baby photo album not only organizes all of your great baby pictures, but it can help you look back and see the changes in your baby. For example, some parents take a baby photo on the same day each month, in order to keep track of their baby's growth.
When you create baby photo albums, you can divide them chronologically, or by events. For example, you may want to have one album for everyday pictures and place all of your holiday shots into another album. Some people keep family albums for all of their photographs, while others choose to have separate photo albums for each of their children.
You can scrapbook, combining mementos, notes and decorations with your favorite baby photos or you can just fill an album with the images of your infant. Either way, you will be glad you took pictures to document all of the special moments of your baby's beginnings.
