Baby Pots
- Supplies needed.
- terra cotta pot
- matching terracotta saucer
- acrylic paint
- Clearcote hi-shine glaze
- baby charms, buttons, trim, ribbon, etc.
- hot glue gun and glue sticks
Paint the entire clean pot and saucer with white acrylic paint. Use as many coats as necessary. You should only have to paint a few inches of the inside of the pot.
Paint rim area of pot in your desired color, pink, blue, yellow, etc., paint rim of saucer to match. You can also paint the inside of the saucer in the accent color.
Allow to dry for several hours. When fully dry, in a well ventilated area, spray the outer areas of pot and saucer with the Clearcote hi-shine glaze.
Allow the Clearcote to dry for at least two hours, apply a second coat, then apply two coats to the inside of the saucer and any other painted areas.
Allow the entire project to dry for 12 to 24 hours.
Begin arranging baby charms, buttons, ribbons, etc. on your pot until you find a pattern that you like.
Apply each charm to the pot with a small amount of hot glue. Allow project to dry for several hours, and apply one more coat of the Clearcote hi-shine glaze to the pot and charms. This helps to seal your project and adds an extra layer of protection.
Re-apply any loose charms with a little hot glue.
Baby Shoe Centerpiece
This centerpiece makes a great conversation piece. Everyone will want to know how you made it! Supplies include the following:
- white baby shoe (Any size will do but the smaller ones are precious!) *pastel colored small bells
- pastel baby yarn about 24 inches long
- baby’s breath or some other small artificial flower
- florist’s foam
Remove the shoelace from the shoe and replace it with the piece of baby yarn. You need to leave the ends long enough to tie into a bow and add the bells. Now tie a bow and double knot it.
Thread the ends of the yarn through the jingle bells, using three or four bells per yarn end, and knot off the thread so the bells won’t slide off the ends of the yarn.
Cut a piece of florist’s foam to fit snugly inside the baby shoe. It should fill the opening of the shoe (but not the toe) to just below the top of the shoe.
Insert small pieces of baby’s breath or other flowers into the foam until you’ve reached the desired arrangement.
