We've created a list of baby decorations to get you started. If you have any additional ideas, please share them with our readers. We love hearing from you!

Centerpieces

Centerpieces can include a simple bowl of fruit or an extravagant bouquet of flowers. There are lots of easy centerpieces that you can make, or you can also order them online.

  • Diaper cakes-Diaper cakes are easy to create. They are also practical since the mom-to-be can use the diapers once baby is born.
  • Umbrella centerpiece-Fill a decorated umbrella or parasol with balloons, ribbons, and a few baby accessories. You can suspend the umbrella from the ceiling over the gift table or dining table or lay it upside down on the table as a great centerpiece.
  • Wagon centerpiece-Fill a small child's wagon with stuffed animals, baby books, and anything else suitable for a child. Place the wagon in the middle of the table.
  • Train centerpiece-Set up a small train set in the center of the table. Scatter baby items around the tracks, and fill the train cars with other baby accessories.

Room Decorations

There are so many ways to decorate a room for a baby shower. The following list will help you get started.

  • Fresh flowers-Place baskets, bowls, or vases of fresh flowers around the room, on the gift table, and next to the centerpiece.
  • Gift basket-Place several gift baskets around the room, and invite guests to add small baby shower supplies, including socks, booties, books, skin care supplies, pacifiers, and bibs.
  • Candles-Nothing softens a room more than a selection of candles. Group candles together on tables throughout the room, and soften electric lights to add to the ambience.
  • Balloons-Tie bouquets of helium-filled balloons to the backs of chairs, place them on mailboxes, and let a few float to the ceiling of the room.
  • Confetti-Use confetti to scatter over the tables and even floors of the room.
  • Banners-Computer generated or store bought banners can be hung across doorways or over the main table.
  • Baby blocks-Use several sets of blocks to spell out baby's name, mom's name, and any other baby related words.
  • Cloth diapers and pacifiers-Use cloth diapers as placemats and pacifiers as napkin rings.
  • Baby keys-These also make great napkin rings.
  • Burp cloths-These can be used as cloth napkins!
  • Fruit bowls-Cut a watermelon into the shape of a baby carriage, and add orange or grapefruit slices for the wheels. Scoop out the fruit to serve.
  • Baby bottle vases-Cut fresh flowers, and place them in baby bottles all over the room. Look for pastel colored bottles for an added touch.
