Fruit and Veggies

Most baby showers offer some type of finger foods, and fruit and vegetable trays are always popular. Want your trays to look extra appealing? It’s all in the way you present them. You don’t have to be an artist or even very creative to display your food. What works best? Try the following:

  • Melon bowls-Melon bowls are easy to make. Simply cut a large watermelon in half, and scoop out the fruit. You can use an ice cream scooper to create small balls of fruit. Now add the fruit balls along with a variety of other fruits to your bowl.
  • Carriage-shaped bowl-Looking for a whimsical way to display your fruit salad? Cut two-thirds off the top of a long watermelon, leaving the other third for the carriage top. Create wheels by adding orange or grapefruit slices to the side of the melon with toothpicks. Fill the bowl with the fruit of your choice.
  • Veggie trays-The trick to creating an eye-appealing vegetable is adding lots of color. Green, red, and yellow peppers, carrots, radishes, celery, broccoli, small tomatoes, cucumbers, and cauliflower look great together. You can arrange rows of vegetables so that they are next to contrasting colors. In the center of your tray, place a large bowl of vegetable dip. If you have room, you can also arrange crackers on the outer edges of the tray.
