Babies require lots of stuff! While you may have several baby showers given for you, and many other friends and family may give you gifts and gift certificates, you'll still want to look for lots of other baby stuff to meet your needs. While of course you can search for many of the supplies for your baby at local discount and department stores, don't forget about the Internet, consignment stores and sales, and garage and yard sales.

Online Auction Sites

Online auctions sites are a great way to look for all the baby stuff you need. Many times these items are like new or gently used. Some of the items may have a "buy it now" option which means that instead of bidding on the item and competing for it, you can be assured of purchasing it if you click on the "buy it now".

Most items are up for bid, however. Once you've created an account, you can immediately begin bidding. Be sure you take into account the cost of shipping the item to your home before you place your bid. Remember, if you win the auction, you are contractually obligated to complete your purchase.

Some popular online auction sites include eBay and Yahoo Auctions.

Consignment Stores and Sales

If you haven't checked out the various consignment stores in your area, it's time to do so! Not only will you find some great bargains, but you might decide to sell some of your gently used baby items. Stores which donate to charity, such as Goodwill and Salvation Army, often have baby stuff for very low prices.

Consignment sales are becoming more popular all across the country. Consignment children's sales offer just about anything parents need or want for their children at greatly reduced prices. Parents just like you clean out their closets and bring gently used baby and children's items to sell.

Typically, the organizers of these sales get anywhere from twenty to forty percent of what your item sells for. This means you'll make an average or sixty to eighty percent on all of that baby stuff that was just sitting in your closet! So, not only can you find great deals at these sales on clothing, toys, bedding, and other accessories, you can earn money to spend on all the necessary baby stuff by cleaning out your closet!

Garage and Yard Sales

Don't forget to search the classified section in your newspaper for local garage and yard sales. Pay particular attention to the ads that advertise baby items. You may find goods that have hardly been used. To get the best selection, be sure and visit these sales as early as possible. However, if there are some items that you are undecided about, you can always go back by later in the day. If the items haven't sold, the seller may discount things drastically just to get rid of them.
