What should people look for when buying baby gifts?
I always like to think outside the box, especially when it comes to buying presents for people. Many of my friends have recently started to have babies. These days, weekends seem to be packed with baby showers. After doing some research, I came up with a few innovative new gift ideas that would not break the bank, but be sure to make it to the top of the list when it came to gifts the moms-to-be would remember.
What are some of your favorite new products?
Walking Wings
Walking Wings are a walking assistance device that helps baby learn to walk by balancing more naturally and hands-free, while experiencing fewer falls. Walking Wings' unique padded support vest easily fastens around baby's chest and has two adjustable, detachable straps with handles for parents to hold and help baby take his or her first steps. It's safer for baby (no tugging on little arms and fewer falls) and kinder to parents' backs (no more bending over!).
Walking Wings is recommended by pediatricians and parents because it reduces injuries and gives self confidence while learning to walk. New moms love Walking Wings, as baby begins to walk, they do not need to hunch over and most find this is helpful in preventing back aches while their little ones are learning to take their first steps. Walking Wings are available in navy or pink and retail for $24.99 at Babies R Us and Target. You can also order this product online at UpSpring Baby.
Milkscreen
The Milkscreen home test for alcohol in breast milk was developed by a mom, Julie Jumonville. Julie had recently delivered her second child and was to be the maid of honor at her sister's upcoming wedding. As maid of honor, Julie really wanted to toast her sister at the wedding and participate in all of the festivities but was worried about possibly passing on any alcohol to her baby. To make sure that did not happen, she made the choice to stop nursing right before the wedding.
It was after that event, Julie decided that there had to be a better way. She invented Milkscreen so moms would be able to enjoy life's special occasions, but also continue breastfeeding with confidence. Moms across the nation are thanking Julie for giving them back the chance to have that occasional celebratory drink, whether it's Mother's Day, a wedding, mom's birthday, or just a special night out on the town with her loved one. Moms are going ga-ga for this amazing new product.
Milkscreen is a simple two minute at home test that detects alcohol in breast milk. Mom simply expresses some breast milk onto the test strip, and the color will begin to change if there is alcohol present. Studies show that infants consuming breast milk with an alcohol concentration at 0.03% or higher will eat and sleep less. The Milkscreen test is set to show a color change at 0.02% to let Mom know if her milk contains a level of alcohol that might negatively impact baby.
With Milkscreen, Mom can reclaim some of her social life but also continue breastfeeding with confidence. No more guessing or unnecessary "pumping and dumping" of precious breast milk. Milkscreen retails for $5.99 for a 3-pack of test strips at Walgreens, Babies R Us, and Target. You can also order this product online at UpSpring Baby.

One other product that I've discovered is the Mommy Necklace. Mommy Necklaces are the latest product to aid nursing mothers and make their job as a breastfeeding mom a little less painful, literally. The benefits are numerous for both mommy and baby. Mothers are pinch-free, released from their quiet rooms, and safe from worry that their finer jewelry may be broken at any moment. In return, babies are nursing longer, keeping their fingers out of mommy's business, and acting a whole lot less monkey-like! Mommy Necklaces are mutually beneficial, affordable, and a great accessory for the everyday mom who just wants to wear jewelry around little ones with confidence again. Breastfeeding can still be an enjoyable bonding experience even after you tiny angel turns into a little monkey! Order Mommy Necklaces online.
