Review of Graco's 3 in 1 Pack 'n' Play
From LoveToKnow Baby
General Overview
The Graco 3-in-1 Pack 'n' Play is a portable play yard that can be assembled or disassembled in a matter of minutes. There are several different versions available to choose from, each with slightly different features and color combinations. All of the Pack 'n' Play models that I compared ranged in price from $89.99 to $129.99, which is an excellent value in my opinion.
Specific Features
The three components that make up the Pack 'n' Play include the following: a removable changing table, a removable bassinet, and the play area itself. I found the changing table to be particularly handy and was able to use it for a full two years (though I do have to say that my child was a bit on the small side). The table features sloped sides and a safety strap to prevent baby from rolling off or squirming away during changing time.
When in use, the bassinet is securely attached to the top portion of the play yard. During the first six months or so of my child's life, I used the bassinet area exclusively. This allowed me to use the play yard area to store extra toys and other things that seemed to always get in the way. It should be noted that the mattress included with the Pack 'n' Play left a lot to be desired. I purchased a custom-fitted mattress for the Pack 'n' Play, and discovered that my baby actually preferred sleeping in this bassinet to the crib that I also bought. Once my child got too heavy for the bassinet, I removed it completely and used only the play area.
The play area was big enough to accommodate my child and several favorite toys for two whole years. The sides were tall enough to prevent escapes while not being so tall that I had trouble lifting my child out. The mesh sides allowed my child to see what was going on around him, which I like to think lessened any feelings of isolation that he might have had.
Portability
The whole reason that I bought the Pack 'n' Play in the first place was because of its portability. I am happy to report that it is indeed quite easy to assemble and disassemble. I had to have my husband do it the first few times, but once I caught on I had no trouble with it. It was nice to be able to travel knowing that my child would have a familiar place to retreat to once he was tired.
Overall Recommendation
If you are looking for a portable play yard for your infant or child (up to two years old), I can wholeheartedly recommend the Graco 3-in-1 Pack 'n' Play. It is sturdy, convenient, easy to use, and an excellent bargain.
