Review of the Swingomatic 6 Speed Swing
From LoveToKnow Baby
General Overview
The Swingomatic 6-Speed Swing is a battery-operated swinging chair for babies. Manufactured by Graco, this product is currently available in two different color schemes. The Swingomatic 6-Speed Swing retails for $99.99 or less at most stores and websites.
Specific Features
As you might surmise from the name, the Swingomatic features six different swinging speeds. In addition, it comes with a reclining seat, a removable mobile, an activity tray, and a library of 15 lullabies.
The swinging speeds range from very slow and soothing to a faster pace that is suitable for entertaining baby when he or she is fully awake. I personally didn't find very many opportunities to use all six speeds, so this wasn't a particularly useful feature for me. I have a feeling that three speeds, or even two, would have been sufficient.
The seat was able to recline in four different positions. This was very helpful, as I could lay it back farther when I wanted my baby to fall asleep or place it upright at other times. This is also an important feature for younger babies whose necks aren't yet strong enough to sit upright without additional support.
My baby wasn't interested in the mobile at all, so I ended up removing it and stuffing it in a drawer somewhere. The activity tray (basically just two toys connected to the front tray) fared somewhat better as my baby liked to have something to fiddle with as he was swinging. But on the whole, I don't think the product would have suffered if these items weren't included. In fact, there were times when I wish those toys weren't on the tray so that I could put some of my baby's personal favorites there instead.
I think I appreciated the 15 lullabies more than my baby did. It was a smart move on Graco's part to include 15 songs, as anything less might have started to drive me crazy after a while. As it was, however, there was enough of a rotation that I was able to keep my sanity.
Overall Recommendation
As much as I loved holding my baby in my arms, it would have been impractical to do it all day long every day. Sometimes I just needed a break, which is exactly what the Swingomatic 6-Speed Swing provided. It was sturdy, durable, and affordable, so I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a baby swing.
