Review of the Zippy Stroller by Inglesina
From LoveToKnow Baby
General Overview
The Zippy by Inglesina is a stroller designed to accommodate children weighing up to 45 pounds. It comes with numerous features that help make traveling with your child a breeze. The Zippy stroller is available in several stylish color combinations at major retailers across the country.
Specific Features
According to the product manual, the Zippy Stroller's features include the following: a one-handed folding system, travel system conversion capability, reclining seat and adjustable footrest, all-season accessories, and easy maneuverability.
In my opinion, these features really separate the Zippy Stroller from the competition. The most useful feature, by far, is the unique folding system that allows you to either open or close the stroller with one hand. I cannot begin to emphasize how much easier your life will be if you purchase a stroller like this! As a parent, you rarely have both of your hands free because you're usually carrying your child, the diaper bag, your purse, the groceries, etc. Being able to close up the stroller and toss it into the trunk with one hand is a convenience that I would gladly pay extra for.
These days, parents don't just buy strollers, they buy complete travel systems. Although the name may sound exotic, a travel system really is nothing more than a stroller that can accommodate an infant seat. This is an important feature for parents of newborns that cannot sit upright on their own yet because they will want to take the infant seat into restaurants and other places, but they don't want to be stuck lugging the infant seat along with everything else. The Zippy Stroller has adjustable straps that fit through the infant seat's seatbelt loops. I had no trouble fitting my infant seat in there and belting it securely in place.
As my child got older, the reclining seat and adjustable footrest became more of an issue. I am happy to report that both pieces were easy to adjust on the Zippy Stroller. The seat reclines all the way back to make sleeping on the road a comfortable experience while also being able to get into enough of an upright position that your child will be able to look around when he or she is fully awake.
Another great feature of the Zippy Stroller is that it comes with several all-season accessories to allow you to venture out no matter what the weather. For example, my Zippy Stroller purchase included a clear plastic rain cover, a so-called "sleeping bag" attachment that fits over your baby's lower extremities and protects a bit against the cold, and of course a movable canopy that helps block out the wind and sun.
I also have to say that the Zippy Stroller has been wonderful in terms of maneuverability and stability. Unlike some of the other strollers I tested, the Zippy Stroller's wheels are very sturdy. They are made to handle different types of terrain, so you won't be confined to asphalt or pavement. I'm not saying that it's easy to push the Zippy Stroller through grass or over rocks, but it's possible. This product comes with a decent suspension system, so the ride isn't too bumpy for baby. I also find that it's very easy to steer and turns reasonably well. In addition, the brakes are simple to operate and help make loading and unloading baby a safe operation.
Overall Recommendation
When purchasing baby products, I've found that the features make all the difference in the world. There are a lot of strollers out there that will help you get your child from Point A to Point B, but only a few select products can make the process easy and enjoyable. The Zippy Stroller by Inglesina is definitely one of these. If you can get past initial sticker shock, you'll end up with a high-quality, durable product that will last for several years. From personal experience, I can strongly recommend the Zippy Stroller for your basic baby-moving needs.
