United States Top Baby Name for 2005

The only absolute source for names in the United States of America is the Social Security Administration. At this time they have not released the results for the year 2005. We can only speculate… what names will it be? How will last year’s boy name Jacob and girl name Emily fare? Will they make the number one spot again? Maybe second place Emma and Michael will steal the show? Tune in closer to May 2006 when the list is usually published, if you can wait that long!

While we wait for the anticipated top boy and girl names in the States, we can review some other countries' favorites. In the melting pot that the World Nations have become, it is not surprising that many countries share similar top names.

United Kingdom Top Baby Name for 2005

The folks over at the UK have moved the process of name selection on a quicker pace than the US. Their results are in, and the winners are… Jessica for girls and Jack for boys. Jessica stole the number one spot from last year’s winner Emily. Jack has been the top boy name for eleven years and running.

Japan

With a large variety of spelling and written translation from standard Japanese lettering, the top boy and girl names have an assortment of ways to be displayed. The most common versions for girls are Hina and for boys there is a tie for Shou and Hiroto.

Canada

From Alberta, Canada, we discover for the last three years their two top names have remained consistent. Both favorites are short “E” names, Emma for girls and Ethan for boys have won out again.

Australia

Even throughout the world, baby names are surprisingly repeated. Australia is not different. From the southern lands generate the top names of Jack for boys and Emily for girls. Both winners have held the spot for the last two years.

French

Over the past years, Thomas is the top of the baby name list for boys, and La is the top of the girls' list.

Germany

The walls have come down to unite Germany, and will their top names reflect this change? With Alexander as the top boy name and Marie the top girl name for the Germans, we can assume the borders are crumbling into the rest of Europe.

Spain

Similar to Germany’s Alexander, the Spanish version was top for the boys at Alejandro. The girl's name that topped the list was Luca.
