Unique Baby Clothes
From LoveToKnow Baby
Unique baby clothes can mean big business, and the more unique an outfit is, the higher the price might be. You don't have to break into your savings account to dress your baby in unique clothes, however. You may have to do a little investigative research, though, or you could simply take up needle work yourself.
Finding Unique Baby Clothes Bargains
Whether you're shopping for your own baby or for a baby gift for someone else, it is easy to get caught up in the fun of looking at all of those adorable baby clothes, that is until you see the price tags!
Designer baby wear can be just as expensive as something an adult would buy, with only a tenth of the material! Still, there isn't anything sweeter than an adorable baby modeling an adorable outfit.
You can find unique clothing at bargain prices if you do a little searching. First, don't forget to check out any consignment stores that might be in your area. Because babies outgrow clothing so quickly, many of the outfits still look like new, without the new price tag.
Talk to other mothers of young babies, especially if you see babies with outfits that you simply must have for your own little darling. You may discover a whole underground of stay-at-home moms who create beautiful, one-of-a-kind outfits that are made to order. Although you will certainly be expected to pay for their time and labor, you will still probably be paying less than you would at an expensive boutique.
If you really must have that darling outfit that costs a small fortune, try to be a little patient and wait for a sale, or better yet, see if you can find something close to identical at an online auction.
Creating Your Own Unique Baby Clothes
Sewing machines can work small miracles these days. Many sewing machines can smock, embroider, and add all sorts of designer stitches to a veritable bounty of fabric choices. If you think you can't sew, think again!
Contact your local sewing center to inquire about sewing classes that are available. Some machines are so fancy that some are even equipped with small computers. You simply push a few buttons and create your masterpiece! Ok, it might not be quite that easy, but you get the picture. You can certainly create some unique baby clothes from the comfort of your home. The more you sew, the better seamstress you'll become!
If you really don't want to handle a machine, however, you can still take up hand-embroidery or hand-smocking. Once you've got the piece embroidered or smocked, you can pay someone else to sew the outfit together.
Purchase That Keepsake
Finally, sometimes the only choice you feel you have is to bite the bullet and buy that unique outfit for your little sweetheart. When nothing but the best will do, celebrate the outfit and your baby by taking lots of pictures. Then, once she has outgrown the clothing, clean and store it, so that you can preserve the memory for years to come, or place it as a decorative addition to your child's nursery, and then give it as a gift to a future grandchild. Your baby won't be little for long, so enjoy each precious, adorable moment while you can!
